We’re moving!

Munchkin Land Designs is in the process of moving from Blogger to WordPress.  You may notice broken links or layout changes during this process; we ask for your patience while we settle into our new place.

We hope you’ll love the new space, and can’t wait to reveal all the new features!  Coming soon!

Getting Back in the Groove & Giveaway

Its been a while, people.  And I’m starting to get back into the groove again!  I’ve been updating like mad around this space of mine.  For instance…

  • I’ve added 2 new premade templates to my selection.  You can check those out here.  I really love the colors of both new designs.
  • I’ve updated both the gallery and the testimonials page.  (Side note.  Thank you for all of the nice, kind, and wonderful words you have for me and Munchkin Land Designs.  It means more than you know!)
  • I will be returning to the Blog of the Week feature next week, so stay tuned to meet some more fun bloggers!
  • I will be posting a schedule of the Twitter and/or Facebook contests later this month so you can know in advance when a contest is going to take place.

But for now, I have a “Getting Back in the Groove” giveaway for you!  It was pretty popular last spring, and I’m really excited to do it again!  It’s a "Win One, Give One” giveaway.

Up for grabs is 2 Deluxe Blog Designs.  One will be for you and your blog, the second will be yours to do with what you want.  Want to host a giveaway of your own?  Done.  Want to give it to a friend?  Done.  You get to gift someone else with a blog facelift, while enjoying your new look as well.

Sound like fun?  Worth playing for?

All entries will be through Rafflecopter and include such options as tweeting about the giveaway, posting about it on your Facebook timeline or blog, following me on Twitter, becoming a fan of Munchkin Land Designs on Facebook, subscribing to the blog’s RSS feed, etc. etc.

The giveaway will run through next Wednesday, January 16th at midnight (EST).  I’ll announce the winner when I do next week’s Blog of the Week.  Thanks for stopping by to catch up and I wish you all good luck!  I’m looking forward to working with the winner!

Growing Pains and Changes

NewGalleryCollageAs you can see by the number of new designs in the gallery, I’ve been a busy girl. We’ve been going through some growing pains around here…

When I bought my ticket for Blissdom in early December, I thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to meet some clients that I’d grown close to and perhaps drum up some more business for Munchkin Land Designs. My work load was steady, neither slow nor busy. And trust me, I am so very grateful for the opportunity to work with some amazing people!

Then in early January, weeks before Blissdom actually started, the tide turned and I suddenly found myself scheduling first drafts 6-8 weeks out, instead of my usual 2-3 weeks. I thought it must be an anomaly, but my orders have stayed consistent and I’m humbled that clients are willing to wait for their designs. Speechless, really.

However, all this busyness and added work has taken its toll… on me, on my clients, and on my family. I’ve somehow gotten used to 3-5 hours of sleep a night; my Littles have been dealing with zombie mom for too long. In an effort to please everyone, I’m not sure I’m pleasing anyone. And to be honest, I feel like I’m missing out on developing deeper relationships with clients because I’m in such a rush to get it finished and I wonder if I’ve really given 100% to the client and their design. It hasn’t been fair to you!

So effective Friday, May 18th, Munchkin Land Designs will be increasing their prices across the site. This will only be the second time I’ve raised my prices in almost 3 years. The last price increase was in 2010 and my skills have grown and sharpened since then.

I’ll still be accepting blog orders at the current prices until that time and will honor orders placed until midnight. I’ve always prided myself on offering custom blog designs at thrifty prices and I believe these new prices will still be very affordable. I will continue to offer a 10% discount to returning clients, and I will still continue the Referral Rewards program. I have also added premade templates to my site, which is another way my clients can get a low-cost, custom design.

Raising my prices will allow me to take on fewer clients during the month, which in turn will ensure that each client is getting my very best. It will mean that I can slow down and guarantee that I’m giving the client exactly what they desire. It will be mean fewer late nights, speedier replies, hopefully a faster turnaround, and most importantly, I hope it will mean that I can be a better wife and mom during the day too.

In addition to raising my prices, I’m also going to be offering a number of new services and design packages. No longer will the Elite be my top package, but I’m adding a Supreme level too. I’ve acquired some new coding skills, as well as some new a la carte items. So be on the lookout for those things.

And to all of my clients these past 5 months, I want to give you all a heartfelt thank-you! Thank you for your patience with me during crashed hard drives, new laptops, late nights, delayed drafts, etc. I absolutely could not have survived early 2012 without your grace and understanding during these growing pains. I’m so very honored that I get to work with such wonderful people!

I sincerely hope these new changes will allow me to be as fully invested in you and your design as I want to be. Thank you! And my family thanks you too!

I’ve earned this afternoon’s nap.

Whew!  This has been a little bit like labor for me…

There were moans and groans along the way; moments where I wanted to tear my hair out as coding would work one moment and not work the next.  There were definite labor pains, and then the final push this morning to make the new site, with all of its new features, live.

Truth be told, its turned out better than even I imagined.  And that thrills me to no end!  I love when a vision comes to life.  I’ve been thinking about these changes for a while now and its so exciting to see the fruits of my labor.  Ha!

What changes, you ask.  Here’s a quick list for you…

  • We have moved from a blogging format to a website format.  The main page displays a slideshow of revolving designs, along with the testimonial from the client.  You can pause the slideshow to read, click on the forward and backward arrows, or allow the slideshow to run on its own.
  • However, if you’re reading this, then you’re reading it from a completely separate part of the new site.  Introducing the business blog!  I used to link directly to my personal blog (and you can still check me out there), but I thought this would be more streamlined.  Be sure to subscribe to my RSS feed so you don’t miss a post.
  • The main page also has new features that will allow you to link directly to Munchkin Land Designs’ Facebook page, subscribe to the RSS feed, send me an email, or check out my personal Twitter account.  (Notice that I said its a personal Twitter account. So you’ll get plenty of tweets about my Littles. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Ha!)
  • On the main page, you’ll also see the latest blog post, you can grab a Munchkin Land Designs blog button, and notice any new announcements, such as blog changes, giveaways, promotions, etc.
  • And speaking of announcements…  The PREMADE TEMPLATES are up now too!  Please go check those out and let me know what you think!  I hope I’ve made it clear that the premade templates are sold “as is” and I will only be changing the title, tagline, and signature at that price.  I’m open to any changes/additions that clients want to make, but please email me directly to inquire about those.

There are so many other changes too!  I’ve updated the Other Fun Links page with links to various home-based companies.  If you’re interested in listing your site there, please let me know.  I’ll be happy to add you!  I’m going to be adding a new blog feature that will highlight blogs I’ve designed so you can get to know the person behind the blog.  I hope to get that up and running within the next two weeks or so.

As with any changes, there’s bound to be a few hiccups, so I’m asking for a little bit of patience and grace as we work through those.  Please feel free to let me know if you run across something that’s not working.  Some times fresh eyes see things that I’ve overlooked.

Well, there you have it!  I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new restructure.  Do you like it?  Not like it?  What’s your favorite change?

Please be sure to continue checking in with us.  I’m doing a fun giveaway in a couple of weeks, a little bit different than other giveaways we’ve done.

P.S.  I added 15 new designs to the gallery this morning too!  Go check those out as well!
